Well here I am trying to figure out what to write for my first post on this new blog. I have so many different thoughts about saving money on travel that I want to dive right in and start to share them on this blog. But I realize that you don’t even know anything about me yet. You’re probably wondering what has even made me want to write a blog on this topic anyway.
Actually the idea of this blog came about as a joke. It started a few months ago when a friend of mine was planning a trip home to Chicago. I hadn’t had the opportunity to travel in awhile so I was enjoying helping her with her trip planning since it let me live vicariously through her a little bit. In fact, I got way more into planning the trip than she did and she basically let me take over for her. I found her a great cheap hotel in downtown Chicago, a discounted fare on her flight and a list of a lot of fun cheap activities to enjoy in the city. She didn’t do everything that I suggested but she did appreciate the help and we started joking around that I should become a professional travel planner.
I don’t actually want to be a travel planner. However I do really love learning about travel and helping people to find a great deal on travel stuff. The joke went from me being a travel planner to me starting a blog about budget travel. Then the idea started to sound more plausible and now here I am. I’m excited to start this blog. I hope that it will be a place where my readers and I can exchange ideas about the best ways to save money on travel. And if that doesn’t happen, well, at least this blog will give me a really good excuse to research travel deals! That’s why I’m here.
